Alba Teta Dalessio, May 24th, 1979 – December 7th, 2010

My wife passed away last month. She was 31 and we had been married almost three years. She had a malignant tumor in her frontal lobe which had been dormant for years but changed at some point recently. She died as Alba Teta, as she was going to change her name this year when her passport expired. Like most young couples, we had a lot of plans and dreams.

Alba was incredibly intelligent, full of life, and very beautiful. She is greatly missed by myself, her family, and her friends.

The blogging is going to be slow while I get back on my feet.

  1. Marc,
I am so sorry to hear of your wife’s passing. I give you my prayers and my hope that God will see you and yours through this awful time. A fellow painter and follower of your blog.

  2. Dear Marc,

I know about you through your father and mother as I live here in carmel valley.. And i have been following and learning from your rich work. Checked in today to see what you had been painting recently and to revisit your paintings from Big Sur…. to then learn of your very sad and heartbreaking news, even though i did not know your beautiful wife. How delicate and fleeting life is.
Wishing you much solace and peace wherever you encounter it.

  3. Just came to have a look at your paintings, but seeing this news, how tragic! My heartfelt condolences. How fragile live is… So full of joy and pain.
Hopefully it makes us consider more the things that are eternally.

Many thanks for all your great posts on this blog (and I like Isaac Levitan also a lot!).
All the best to you, especially now.

  4. I’ve been sitting on this here and Facebook for days, not knowing what to say. As it is, nothing can make up for your loss and so at the very least all anyone can do is express condolences. Ditto to all of the other comments above Marc, you are in our prayers.

  5. My deepest sympathies Marc, I’m so sorry for your loss.
I can’t imagine what you are going through here, and words do not suffice to console the pain you must be in at this moment.

    God Bless.

  6. Mere words bring no comfort in the face of grief, but they stand as evidence of the circle of care and compassion which surrounds you now, as you struggle to learn how to live with your loss. My thoughts are with you.

  7. I am so sorry. It is so heartbreaking. I just discovered your blog and your amazing work by way of Stephan Giannini’s blog and am so saddened by your loss.

  8. Marc,
My best wishes and prayers are with you.
Take care of yourself and know that so many people around the world are with you at this time.

  9. Marc,
At a loss for words. This is such a tragic and untimely passing. Truly sorry for your loss. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

  10. Dear Marc,
So shocked to read the news. How devastating for you – and what a beautiful woman.
My heart goes out to you.
You are probably in no frame of mind to absorb this at present , but for the record, you will continue, stronger and wiser in life as a result.
Not much comfort now, sorry. I hope you have family and close friends to keep you going whilst you grieve. And if there is anything I can do, don’t hesitate to ask.
    My thoughts are with you,
    ~Anne

  11. Marc, this is heartbreakingly sad news. I know of no words that can decrease the brutality of the grief you must feel. I am so sorry.

  12. Marc.

  13. I feel like I have been holding my breath since I learned of your loss, I am truly sorry. Two days have passed and each time I look at my wife, I think…how could I go on painting? This is not a question I can answer, but, having lost both parents, I can tell you I hear them say to me everyday that I need to continue to paint. I need to continue to look for the truth. Nothing is the same after the departed, but that is the way it should be. These are the things that cause us to be who we are today. One step, in front of the other…just one, leads to the next. Good luck. Good Light

  14. Marc,

  15. I am so so sorry for your loss.

There is a song that makes me think of special person close to me who passed and it helps me. Maybe it will help you. “You`re a part of me, I`m a part of you…from this day on you`ll never walk alone”. listen to it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShJyICHOXYM

I don’t know you personally but I think you are a great painter.

  16. Dear Marc, I just noticed this post and could not help but write a word or two. Some years ago I also lost my wife. I was in Florence at Angel Academy when she passed. We also spent but a few years together but they were the best for both of us. She was not only my wife she was also truly my best friend. It took some time for me to come to grips with the fact but I that is what we must do for life must go on. So, my friend, may God give you and family comfort and may he give you strength to go on for I am sure that is what she would want you to do.

  17. Marc – my heart breaks for you and her family. We spend our time assuming we have so much time, and then something like this happens.
