Plein Air Workshop in June, 2010: Ten day course on using sight-size in plein air painting near Trevi, Umbria.
The first plein air course for 2010 will be held in the area around Trevi in Umbria from May 31 to June 10 .
Trevi is a small hilltop town about 45 minutes south of Perugia overlooking the valley of the Teverone river. Its a place I have visited many times over the years and have always felt it to be one of the most picturesque areas in central Italy.
We will stay in a small bed and breakfast on the hills outside of the town in comfortable apartments. The cost of the course will be €1,600 (U.S.$2,235 at today’s rate) per person for lessons, lodging and meals. Spouses are welcome (there is a pool and spa) at a reduced rate. I will provide transportation during the course, though I’ve picked a spot where we won’t need to move around much to find views. Classes will be in two sessions per day and we will work on composition, color theory, sight-size plein air techniques, and general ideas on painting and art in general. The course is limited to ten people and some experience with oil painting is helpful.
A deposit of 30% will be required with your application, refundable up to 2 months before the course (or if I can fill your spot anytime after that). Payment can be made via check, wire transfer, or pay-pal.
The second workshop will take place in the small village of Pujols-sur-Dordogne (outside of Saint-Émilion) at a date still-to-be-decided. If you would like more information please drop me an email at courses@marcdalessio.com.
