  1. Marc,

I have combed the internet and seen many portraits and landscapes, but I find yours are some I have enjoyed the most and think are marvelous. In your landscapes, you paint with great color, but to me you re not using color for the sake of using color! It has a place and is complementary to the subject and composition. So often I see purples and greens (or any other color) used because it seems the person painting has discovered some trick or gimmick and they run with it. Your paintings are honest and well-composed. It makes me feel good to find your work.

Your portraits, whether sketches or more finished (I’ll say “formal”), have an immediacy and authenticity (I like to use that word) that most painters fail miserably to achieve. These days, we painters must fight the public’s misguided notion that they think they want a photograph in paint. Your work has a spontaneity and freshness and the people in them are living. They look alive, but not not at all painted replicas – made from a photo!

I look forward to seeing more of your work as you post it.

    My regards to you.
