Two English Studio Landscapes

Here, briefly, are a couple of larger studio pieces I recently finished from sketches done in September in Norfolk and Suffolk, England. They’re off to Constantine Lindsay Fine Art.

Landscape painting of Boats at Low Tide, Burnham Overy Staithe.

Boats at Low Tide, Burnham Overy Staithe. 80 x 100 cm, oil on linen.

Painting of Pin Mill at low tide.

Pin Mill, Low Tide. 70 x 100 cm, oil on linen.

I’m off to Austria to paint outside in the Alps tomorrow. It will be good to get out of the studio for a bit.

  1. Really beautiful, Marc. I love the rich colours emerging from what, at first glance, appears to be a subdued painting, in ‘Boats at Low Tide.’

I’m a great fan of your work. Thanks for sharing it.

  2. Muted tones in the first painting, nearly monochromatic, contrasting tones in the second one, totally impressionist. Two great lessons.

  3. Neat to see, I painted at Burnham Overy Staithe back in ’91, went up often with a friend. Some guy photographed me when painting outside the boathouse once and months later I found postcards of his photo in the nearby village. Poor fella, I bought about 30, he must’ve thought they were popular.
