Here, quickly, are a few of the sketches from my trip to lake Como this week. We stayed above Varenna at the beautiful Castle di Vezio (if anyone is looking for an exceedingly picturesque agritursimo around the lake).
Ben Fenske and I had a painting competition for the view above. We bet our cars and I thrashed him. Too bad I wouldn’t know what to do with a purple Opel station wagon. (To be fair, the last time we had a paint-off he won by a mile).
Hi Marco:
What a pleasure to view your work as you post it. Congrats on the prize. I’ will not overly praise your work because, what the hell, I’m you dad, and who would believe me? Love, Dad
Your blog came up on my google alerts – what a talent you have and you describe them as sketches! what do your final pieces look like? I can’t imagine.
Do you sell your work? Do you have any other work from your trip to Lake Como?
regards

Lovely Marc, you’d probably get lunch out of breaking the station wagon for parts 😉
Hi Marc.
Beautiful color and light as always.
What a beautiful place Lake Como must be.
Are you still using the palette you posted a while back (I think when you were doing a workshop in LA)?
Hello Tom, I’m using more or less the same palette. I’m trying cobalt blue and cadmium orange to save some time mixing a middle blue and orange. I’ve also started using alizarin again. Its always been on my palette but I was avoiding it for some reason for a year or so.
Wonderful paintings! Really… Remeber me an exhibition carriedout at laba.biz but I don’t remember the name of the artist…
